Wind and weather in El Gouna / Egypt

The weather in El Gouna is easily explained.

Rain …? There ain’t anything like this here! Only sun, sun, sun …

Temperatures are pleasant all year long. For the months of December to March it is recommended, however, to take along a neoprene suit
and warm clothes for the evening.
True, it’s hot during summer. Yet, contrary to some widely-held belief, it isn’t too hot. What could be greater than kiting in shorts with wind speeds of 5 bft? The air is dry, and the northwest wind acts like natural air conditioning.

And Wind …?

… you’ll find almost as often as the sun!

The predominant wind direction is northwest. At Mangroovy Beach, the wind blows cross-shore (from left). When, for instance, the wind is turning west in Hurghada, it is blowing slantwise offshore and is getting very gusty. Because of the coastline’s alignment at Mangroovy Beach, however, it’s still coming cross-shore. The kite beach is completely unspoilt northwards, so there isn’t any lee-side turbulence.

We haven’t inserted any realistic and long-term statistics for one simple reason: There just aren’t any available.
Local winds are strongly dependent on pressure distribution over the Mediterranean. In case of a low-pressure area shifting eastwards across Greece and Turkey, for instance, local winds are disturbed. If it’s going really bad, especially during winter, winds can die away for two to three days, reappear afterwards, and mostly remain stable.
